Saint-François Footbridge

Highlight (Segment) • Bridge

This bridge, suspended above the Guindy, replaced in 1834 the old ferry which provided the connection between Tréguier and Plouguiel. The name of the place recalls the establishment of a Franciscan convent near the footbridge until the French Revolution. It is one of the last witnesses of the rise of metal framing in France in the 19th century. Today the footbridge is used by pedestrians and cyclists, as part of the GR 34 and the EV 4. The Black Bridge, not far from the confluence, allows road traffic.

Place du Martray

Highlight • Historical Site

A statue of Ernest Renan, a work by Jean Boucher, decorates this leafy square with old houses in the center. This tribute to the singer of the 'rational' religion provoked a storm of protest from Catholics at the time, who responded with the Calvary of Protest (1904), a statue that now stands in the park of the Rue Marcelin-Berthelot.

Located at the confluence of the Jaudy and Guindy rivers, the port of Tréguier is above all a marina. Its privileged location in the protected area of the Jaudy estuary makes it a site to be preserved.

From this port, you can admire the banks of Trédarzec, and begin to imagine the Kerdalo Gardens located there.

I can only advise you enough to grab a delicious crepe (lemon-sugar for a regressive snack) at La Krampouzerie, and enjoy it on the port. The hardest part will be not finishing it in the 350 meters that separate the two points!

Gouermel Cove has a long sandy beach. At low tide, the water recedes far away, giving the beach an exceptional width. Note that dogs are prohibited on the beach.

Beautiful old town with many half-timbered houses. The cathedral is particularly impressive. We were there on Wednesday. The weekly market is a shadow of its former self. 10 years ago there was much more going on.

An impressive bridge – restored. At low tide, the view from the bridge isn't so nice – there's a lot of silt to see.

An old suspension bridge that was only renovated and made usable again in 2013. It originally replaced the ferry service across the river.
