They are something of a trademark: The boardwalks on Amrum. In total, there are over 11 km of these wooden structures, which snake through the island's protected areas like "sidewalks". The boardwalks, laid with great effort by local craft businesses, cross the heath and dunes and lead to the beach, to the viewing dunes and to the viewpoints. The wooden planks of the boardwalks are replaced with new ones after a few years. Sometimes individual sections are also relaid and the old post foundations are still recognizable. 🌿Wonderful to experience the remarkable nature like this 🍃👌🏼.

❤️🤍❤️The island's landmark: the lighthouse. It was built in 1872 on a dune in the southwest and is still in operation❤️. At 42 meters, it is one of the tallest on the North German North Sea coast. The originally red-brown stone tower received its current red-and-white paint job in 1952. 297 steps lead from the foot of the dune to a viewing platform with a circular balcony. From the top, there is a magnificent view of Amrum, the neighboring islands, and the North Sea🌊.

🏖Amrum's perhaps biggest attraction is Kniepsand🤍, a fine-sand beach, about 15 km long and up to 2 km wide. Formerly a sandbank that, over time, moved closer to the island - and finally united with it🏖. 🎨🖌A wonderful natural highlight, sand so fine... as white as flour 🤍.
