The Saarschleife Treetop Walk is a 1250-meter-long treetop walk in Orscholz, a district of the municipality of Mettlach. It was built in July 2016 according to plans by the Schönberg architect Josef Stöger. Located above the Cloef, it offers views of the Saarschleife. The tourist attraction is operated by Erlebnis Akademie AG. The 1250-meter-long treetop walk leads from the Cloef Atrium to an observation tower built above the Cloef viewpoint. The walk is located at a height of up to 23 meters and has a minimum width of 2.5 meters. Four educational stations are integrated into the walk. These provide information about quartzite, the beech forest, the Saarschleife, and deadwood. A Rialto Bridge and a slide have been incorporated for children. A special attraction is the 42-meter-high observation tower with a 70-square-meter platform. The path to the top is made up of switchbacks with rest areas. The trail is completely accessible and has a maximum gradient of only 6%. The trail is open year-round (except on December 24th), but the opening hours vary according to the season. In bad weather (thunderstorms, hail, storms, or ice), the trail is closed for safety reasons. Source: Wikipedia

The complex features faithful replicas and archaeological finds that bring the past to life. A special highlight is the Roman tavern, where you can enjoy historical dishes. The workshops also offer unique insights into ancient craftsmanship, which you can experience up close.

An oversized bench is ideal for a break with a view before continuing into the forest. In the distance, the cooling towers of the Cattenom nuclear power plant are steaming on French soil.
